I have always been a visual person. Ever since I was young I have been fascinated with the sights and sounds of the world around me. It was only natural for me to want to capture what I experienced as a young child through the lens of a toy camera I was given many years ago. My early exposure to photography can be credited to my mother who did her best to document our family travels and experiences.  My fascination was rediscovered years later while attending a local community college, under the supervision and guidance of Chris Lizon, Bob Aller, and Frank Ward. It didn’t take long for me to realize that my fascination for photography was quickly becoming my passion in life. For me creating images is more than a hobby or profession it is a way of life and I couldn’t imagine it any other way. The images contained on this site showcase my most recent trip to Arizona and Utah.  As an avid outdoors enthusiast and Eagle Scout, I find myself instinctively drawn towards capturing the beauty of the spaces we inhabit in hopes to share them with the world and promote the preservation of the countries national parks and open spaces.  Having recently made the transition from traditional film to digital I have been able to better hone my skills on a more technical level given the ability to review the histogram and image information on the camera’s LCD. This has proven to be an invaluable learning tool and has enabled me to explore my creativity more openly with out the budget constraints of shooting film. Recently I have begun delving into various educational resources in order to better understand the art of photography and the science of light. It was though my explorations that I was fortunate enough to come across the off camera lighting blog, of Maryland based photographer David Hobby. Strobist.com has enabled me to take my photography to the next level, providing me with the tools and resources to approach and enhance everyday scenes with the use of small off camera flashes.  The pursuit of higher understanding and excellence is what drives to me shoot the things I do. I would like to consider myself a generalist in that I am still learning and enjoy shooting a variety of subjects from landscapes and portraits to architecture and events. The way I see it the more opportunities I have to shoot, the more experience I will gain, and the stronger my skills will become enabling me to take on the various challenges of being both a commercial and fine art photographer.
